The essential fatty
acids are another group of nutrients that you need to include in your
eating pattern. These fatty acids can't be made by your body that is why
they are called essential. Without them your body can't function. When
you don't have enough of them in your body, your will have more pain.
You will have a decrease in mental capacity. Your blood will be thicker
and you will have higher chlesterol levels.
The fatty acids have
functions in every cell of your body and in the blood.
The essential fatty
acids are omega-3 and omega 6. Most of you are familiar with omega 6.
Olive oil has a large percentage of omega-6. Omega-3 is the essential
fatty acid that is found in fish and in flax seed oil. Most all oils have
a omega-3 and omega-6 in them. Some oils have more omega-6 than omega-3
and some have more omega-3.
The best way to add
these fatty acids to you diet is to use olive oil and flax seed oil in
your daily salads. Another way is to eat fish once a week. Yet another
way is to supplement with fish oil capsules.
